DOT Physicals at Emergency One

By / August 12, 2021 / , / 0 Comments

Do you need a DOT physical?  Did you know that Emergency One can perform DOT physicals for either a company employee or an individual who is in need of one?

A DOT physical is a medical exam requiring a detailed medical history including medications that are performed in part by our clinical team and our Certified Medical Examiners.  All of the providers at Emergency One must undergo special training and pass a federal test in order to perform these specialized exams.  At Emergency One, you will enter your information in CerteDrive, an electronic system for conducting DOT physicals.  Once you have checked in, we will provide you with a tablet to conduct this portion of the physical.

What can you do to make your visit go smoothly?

  1. Bring your driver’s license.
  2. Know your medical history and medications (Bring a list).
  3. Bring your glasses or contacts if you wear them when driving.
  4. Be prepared to provide a urine sample.

What can you do to “pass” the DOT physical?

The main thing that prevents you from walking out of our office with your DOT medical card is supporting documentation for known existing conditions.   The following conditions require a clearance letter from your doctor:

  1. High Blood Pressure
  2. Heart Condition
  3. Diabetes
  4. Sleep Apnea

It is important to bring the above clearance from your treating physician in order to save you time and money.  By taking the above steps, you can breeze through your DOT physical and leave with the appropriate paperwork required by the DOT.
