According to the New York State Department of Health, flu activity is now widespread across New York State, and influenza has officially been declared prevalent. During the most recent reporting week, NYS recorded over 24,000 lab-confirmed flu cases, a 29% increase from the prior week, with Influenza A being the predominant strain. New York City, which reports as a separate reporting jurisdiction from the rest of the state, moved into the most severe category for “very high” flu activity.

Hospitalizations are also rising, with flu-related hospital admissions up 75% week over week statewide. RSV and COVID-19 activity continue as well, adding to overall respiratory illness across the region
